From the city that cultivated The Gaslamp Killer's stomping grounds comes an album of eyebrow-raising heaters for all glitch-hop and beat-oriented enthusiasts.
A new school of fish in this San Diego pond have constructed their own low end theories in underground warehouses and dive bars to appreciative patrons starving for culture beyond the laid back reggae and indie-rock scenes that the southern California city is traditionally known for.
Dataset Clothing is proud to present these 19 hand-crafted songs from artists dead bent on celebrating their wide range of musical influences (while also reinventing them) are a testament to this exciting time for forward-thinking bass music in the 'ol San Breezey. Soak up the organic G-Funk of the lluminauts (recently sharing the stage with Diplo, be sure to check their infectious live act when in a city near you), the galloping push-pull nostalgia of early Warp Records from Elk Beats, and the staggered swagger of Mike Gao (Plug Research) and (Modeselektor label and tour cohort) eLan. San Diego's torch bearers of future funk have been knighted, stay tuned for the inspired reactions of beats sure to follow.
